Help/FAQ

Do I need a referral for physical therapy?

Nope! In California, you can be evaluated and treated by a physical therapist without a physician’s referral thanks to a policy called Direct Access.

Since this legislation passed in 2014, you can come straight to Rausch Physical Therapy & Wellness for most aches, pains, sprains, or movement concerns—no extra appointments required. Getting care sooner often means faster recovery, less time in pain, and lower overall costs.

That said, some conditions do require a physician’s evaluation and when that’s the case, we work closely with trusted doctors in our community to make sure you receive the best possible care.

Do I need a referral for Rx Wellness services?

No referral needed! Rx Wellness services can be booked online at any time—no prescription or physician visit required. Our massage therapists, StretchFix specialists, and chiropractors are available for direct booking.

If you start with one provider and another service would better support your goals, we’ll seamlessly guide you to the right practitioner to ensure you get the most effective care.

Why was I referred to physical therapy?

Physical therapy helps address pain, stiffness, weakness, or movement limitations that are interfering with your daily life. You may have been referred after an injury or surgery, or because ongoing discomfort is affecting how you move. A physical therapist works to identify the underlying cause of the issue and create a plan to help you move better, feel stronger, and return to your normal activities safely.

How long will I need physical therapy?

The length of physical therapy varies based on your condition, goals, and how your body responds to treatment. During your initial evaluation, your physical therapist will discuss a personalized treatment plan and provide an estimated timeline, which may be adjusted as you progress.

How do I pay for my treatment?

Physical Therapy: Most insurance plans cover physical therapy services, though a co-pay may apply at each appointment. Please check our [list of accepted insurance providers] to confirm coverage. For those not using insurance, we also offer cash-pay options.

Rx Massage & StretchFix: We offer packages and membership options that provide discounted pricing, making it easy to access these services regularly. Insurance coverage depends on your specific plan.

Rx Chiropractic: All chiropractic appointments are cash-pay. At the end of each visit, you will receive a superbill, which you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement depending on your plan.
